    Nickolas Hamblin is an active soloist, chamber, and orchestral musician based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He has received first prize in multiple competitions, including the Detroit Symphony Orchestra Bradlin Scholarship Competition, Detroit Federation of Musicians Solo Competition, Dearborn Symphony Young Artist Competition, Southern Great Lakes Symphony Solo Competition, Tuesday Musicale of Detroit Young Artist Competition, and the Michigan Youth Arts Festival Concerto Competition. Mr. Hamblin has appeared as a soloist with the National Repertory Orchestra—in collaboration with Teddy Abrams—the Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra, and the Dearborn Symphony Orchestra.

    He currently serves as principal clarinet with the Dearborn Symphony Orchestra, a position he won at 18 years old. Alongside this, Nickolas has performed with the Orchestra Sono as principal and second clarinet, second clarinet with the Adrian Symphony Orchestra, and regularly performs as principal clarinet with the Michigan Philharmonic. His chamber group, Trio Matisse, won first prize in the New York International Young Musician’s Chamber Music Competition, Dale and Nancy Briggs Chamber Music Competition, and the Charleston International Music Competition, and has competed at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. Nickolas studies at the University of Michigan with Professors Daniel Gilbert and Chad Burrow.
